I never thought I will be trapped in Seoul for Christmas.
Well, I don’t think anyone of us has foreseen this happening. The Covid-19 virus has us groping for stability, security and clarity of our future. Never has any thing in our current lifetime put all of us on edge all the time, unsure of tomorrow.
Early this year, I have settled into my routine of staying in the house for my family. I was hopeful that some change will happen before the year ends. We can still go home to the Philippines and celebrate the holidays as we usually do.
As months moved forward with no respite from Covid news, it became clearer we cannot go home no matter how much we prayed for it. We eventually were settled on staying here in Seoul for Christmas. Though our hearts longed for the familiarity and festivity of Philippine Christmas.
We all know Christmas is celebrated the longest in the Philippines. Although we only have the dry and wet season, we have long embraced Christmas as our longest season in the country. That thought makes us all Filipinos always wish to spend a merry Christmas at home.
When reality sunk in that we were trapped here in Seoul for Christmas, I knew I had to re-focus my thoughts. I had to make it merry and bright, no matter what.
This may be superficial, but the bright lights of downtown Seoul had a way to lift my spirit albeit, temporarily.
So, if you are trapped anywhere you are in the world, look at the brighter side. Better yet, create a brighter side.

Yes I agree with you Ms.Wendy.Kahit saan man tayong lugar na trapped mas piliin padin natin ang mga brighter and positive sides.Gawin padin natin ang mga bagay na dati nating ginagawa during pasko.Pwede parin namang magsaya at mag celebrate kahit nasa bahay kalang bastat kasama mo lang ang mahal mo sa buhay.Napaka espesyal na nang pasko😊.
Agree ako sayo Ms. Wendy. Despite of the bad sides na nangyari this year , yung pandemic na nangyari let’s look pa din at the brighter sides.
Mas nagkaroon tayo ng time para sa pamilya nten , natuklasan naten ang skills na din pa naten na try nun wala pa lang lockdown. At mas naging secured tayo para sa future naten. Mas nalaman naten ang halaga ng bawat isa lalo na ang kalusugan at pamilya 😊
Yes po Ms. Wendy, kahit asan man tayo, kung ano man yung sitwasyon natin ngayon we should still always look on the bright side of life, better yet create a brighter side. And yun nga po yung mga bagay na di natin inaasahan na kaya nating gawin, maraming bagay tayong natutunan ngayong taon and that’s the good thing about this year. 😊
Yess true ms. Wendy .. nung mg simula ang pandemic isa man ako sa natanggal sa trabaho okay lang naiintndhan ko nman laht kse as in halos lahat lugi dn tlga at need mgbawas ng tao buntis ako that time kya isa ako sa ntanggal .. pero ayun na nga po naging nsa bahay nlng . Un nlng din po ung nging panahon ko para mksama ko mga anak ko kse nung wala pang pandemic full time worker tlga . Kailangan kumayod para sa pamilya .. kaya smula nun ayun na nkabonding ko na mga anak ko mas naaalagaan ko pa sila ng maayos .. my mga bagay akong natutunan na akala ko hndi ko kaya . Pero sana maging okay na ang buong mundo pra mkabalik na sa dati ang lahat ❤️😊
i agree po iba talaga ang Pasko sa Pinas. Nakakalungkot po talaga na because of pandemic you were not able to spend it here but i am glad that you were able to remain positive despite the disappointments. sending you hugs, i know how it feel spending Christmas away from home. ganda po ng mga decors nila, though hindi pala sila nagcecelebrate ng Christmas, i am glad that still there is Christmas vibe.
