If you want to check authentic and high-quality Indonesian products, go to Sarinah Mall in Central Jakarta. The building is the flagship store of the state-owned company, PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia, and it houses Indonesian retail products.
I am glad my husband and I visited this place. This isn’t so far away from our apartment here in Central Jakarta but I always held off visiting. Sarinah is always on Instagram pages especially since it first re-opened earlier this year, in March 2022.
The building was closed in 2020 for a major renovation. I have no idea how it looked before but it does look good when it reopened this year. The facade has a tinge of gold in its window bars so it looks elegant from the outside. The amphitheater makes it look welcoming. In fact, you can see a lot of people sitting there when you pass by Thamrin. It is also a great spot for your social media postings.
The products displayed are well-curated to showcase the best Indonesian products. They are on the expensive side so I am not sure if you come out of here with bulk purchases, or if you even buy at all. Honestly, I didn’t. But that’s because I have come to know of markets around Indonesia where I can buy at less expensive prices.
But if you are a tourist with a higher budget for the finest Indonesian souvenirs, this is so worth it to visit.
