My sons and I are F-3 visa holders (dependent’s visa courtesy of my husband’s E-7 visa). But what happens to the F-3 visa when the E-7 visa holder becomes an F-5 visa holder?
Korean Immigration Law requires that F-3 visa (dependent’s visa) holders must apply for an F-2-3 visa.
My sons are ages 12 and 9. What are the requirements for minors?
To apply for visa change to F-2-3, they needed to submit the following:
- application form (Integrated Application Form – Appendix Paper No. 34 here) – It is the very first form you see on the webpage link
- Alien Registration Card – submit original to Immigration (Immigration Officer will give you a legal document “Certificate of Application for Permit to Stay” which you need to show upon claiming of new ARC)
- photocopy of passport
- photocopy of birth certificate
- photocopy of Father’s F5 ARC
- photocopy of Father’s passport
- photocopy of Mother’s ARC
- photocopy of Mother’s passport
- photocopy of parents’ marriage certificate
- house contract – Husband requested for house contract of our apartment here in Seoul to be under his name when we moved to a new apartment last August
- 130,000 won for processing fee
The application for visa change was received on November 1, 2018. I got their F-2-3 visa on November 26, 2018.
Pretty simple for minors.

Looks like the process is pretty easy! Jealous! 😛
Congrats to your kids for being permanent residents! Is there any military requirement for them when they get older?
F-2 is not yet permanent resident… Nope, they are not required for military service. Only Korean citizens are required.
Hello. This is Swiza. I went to Korea last Feb 26,2019. I went there to process F-3 visa. My husband has a D-2 visa in Korea, his studying masteral Degree there. Before I applied Tourist visa in the Philippines. We went to Embassy of Korea in the Philippines to know the process of F3 visa and how to process it. They said to us that I need to go to Korea using C-3 visa then it will change it there. But when we get to Incheon Immigration last March 7, 2019 cause we had our appointment for F3 visa, they didn’t accept my application they insisted that it will process in the Philippines not in Korea cause it was new rule. So I go back to the Philippines last Marvh 12,2019. By March 13, I went to Korean Embassy in Taguig Philippines, they didnt know that kind of visa. I was really confused! Can you guys help me on how we can have that F3 visa. Thank you. ~~
Our F-3 visas were granted in the Philippines: http://myrockingcradle.com/2010/02/baby-dynamo-granted-an-f3-visa/.. Please check if your husband can have you on F-3 status.
I’m glad that you and your family are up to date on their visas, that way we can see more Korea-related content from their wonderful mom and socialite 😛
I’m sure this is a valuable resource for people looking to get through this often anxious process as soon as possible. Great job for documenting it.
