Beyond Borders Beyond Talent: Regional Cooperation

The Philippine Business Club of Indonesia (PBCI) hosted “Beyond Borders Beyond Talent: Rethinking Regional Cooperation in a Hyperconnected World” on May 15, 2025 in Central Jakarta. PBCI organized this business gathering with Prime Talents and PeopleMatter PH. Matarim & Taira S. Law Office provided the legal background of doing business and hiring talents.

Charge D’Affaires Gonaranao Musor thanked PBCI for its continued efforts in connecting the Philippines and Indonesia. He emphasized the shared similarities that bind together the Philippines and Indonesia especially the big talent pool from each country. This is also bolstered by the 75 years of bilateral relations.

Mr. Engelbert Camasura from PeopleMatter acknowledged how Filipinos are highly-regarded in Indonesia. When it comes to regional opportunities, Indonesia-based companies have high regard for Filipinos and they have been employed as company heads and executives. Many are also in Engineering, Finance, and teaching professions. Companies abroad also look at Filipinos when it comes to BPO industries so most new graduates still look at this industry for employment opportunities.

Mr. Wai Hong Chia from Malaysia discussed how Malaysia is an attractive country for expatriates. Aside from its welcoming people, the expat package also affords a very comfortable lifestyle for their families and international school education for their children.

These regional employment opportunities were discussed as well as the rich pool of talents that the ASEAN region offers. Atty. Rudy Andreas Sitorus, a partner from the Matarim & Taira S. Law Office, discussed the legal background necessary for companies and employers for guidance in the hiring processes.
