Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Carlos Yulo bagged the Bronze medal in the Field Exercise at the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championship 2025 in Jakarta on October 24, 2025. Yulo ended his Floor Exercise to loud applause from the audience at the Indonesia Arena in Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) stadium. He earned the score 14.533, slightly lower than his Qualifying Round score of 14.566.
Watch here Yulo’s performance:
British-Filipino Jake Jarman won the Gold Medal with a Final Score of 14.866, higher than his qualifying round score of 14.700. His performance was met with thunderous applause from the audience. Filipino fans were also cheering for him as his mother hails from Cebu.
In my interview with him, he shared that his parents and grandparents were in the stands cheering for him. And they are going to the Philippines for a holiday right after the competition in Jakarta.

British gymnast Luke Whitehouse’s score took a big leap from 13.866 in the qualifying round to 14.666 in the Finals. Despite ranking last among the top eight finalists, Whitehouse went on to win the silver medal. Because of this leap to second place, Great Britain dominates the Floor exercise in this World Championship.
One More Chance to Bag the Gold
Yulo excels in the Floor Exercise and Vault—his strongest events. He captured two gold medals for the Philippines in these disciplines at the 2024 Paris Olympics. As the Floor Exercise is already done, he has one more chance to bring home a gold medal. He is scheduled to compete in the Vault Finals, where he is the top contender, on Saturday, October 25. He tops the eight finalists with a score of 14.750. Artur Davtyan from Armenia, who comes in second, is a strong candidate for Gold as well. But Ms. Cynthia Carreon, President of Gymnastic Association of the Philippines, hopes for a Gold finish for Yulo.

The Filipinos in Jakarta, as well as in the Philippines, are looking forward to the Vault Finals to see if the Double Gold Olympic Medalist will retain his Gold standing.
