If you love anything spicy, read on to know where to find the top sambals in Jakarta. Especially when local food is one of the things you intend to explore when you are new or visiting a new place. This should be on your list of best things to do in Jakarta.
I know where to go, so read on!
SS (Special Sambal) Waroeng
I was able to go to SS Wareong when I got featured on Philippine TV’s IJuander. This restaurant features 32 kinds of sambal and has been featured on popular YouTube channels.
When I went there, they were not allowing dine-in. Instead, I saw several gojek waiting for orders. So, I ordered for my own take-home, too and had a spread of several kinds of sambal at home.
I learned about sambal mangga from this restaurant visit and decided to make my own at home. Check this video so you can make one for yourself, too.
Just make your mango smaller than what I did in the video.
Sambel Setan Bu Mut
You should go to Sambel Setan Bu Mut. The roadside restaurant makes only one kind of sambal – the Sambel Satan. It is as deceiving as its name. You an check out my reaction in this video:
Imagine how this restaurant can consume 20 kilos of cabe (chili) daily. But this is pretty normal here in Indonesia. I was lucky to be able to experience how they crush the chili here as I intentionally came over an hour before opening time. The staff were very accommodating, too.
You can check them out in this address:
Address: Jl. Penjernihan 1 No.50, RW.8, Bend. Hilir, Kecamatan Tanah Abang, Kota Jakarta Pusat, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 10210, Indonesia
These are just two of the many places you can go to for the top sambals here in Jakarta, but these two will definitely give you a very Jakarta-experience!
