Where to Stay in Bali

It is important to plan where to stay in Bali so you can maximize the fun and relaxation in your vacation. Actually, one’s choice of accommodation is important wherever you go for vacation.

In this post, I will share with you the hotels we stayed in, in different areas of Bali.

Courtyard by Marriott Seminyak – Seminyak Area

We stayed in the Courtyard by Seminyak when we stayed on the Seminyak side of Bali. Seminyak is known for its shopping area, long shoreline, calm waters, and beautiful sunset. If you like chilling it out on the beach, strolling while you or your teens do some water activities, and waiting for the sunset I would highly recommend a stay at Seminyak. You can also have a beachside dinner. There are several restaurants along the shoreline ready with their tables and bean bags for a relaxed dinner by the beach.

The hotel is a good 5-minute walk to the beach. But it has a shuttle that can bring you there upon request. It advertises its own beach club but it is actually just a small area on the Seminyak beach that has its own lounge beds. There are a number of hotel staff assigned there so we get to have our own hotel beach towels, shower area, and bottled waters. It’s convenient for hotel guests to have lounge areas here but they close at 6 pm. Although you can also see many lounge beds along the shoreline, these are the public ones and you need to pay for them.

While going to the beach is an effort from the hotel, we also enjoyed staying at the hotel pool. And our suite is facing the pool as well so sitting and watching from our balcony is a relaxing activity in itself. You can see the suite room tour in the video below.

Courtyard by Marriott Seminyak

I would have preferred a hotel that has very close proximity to the beach since we are staying in Bali, anyway. But it made up for its excellent customer service. My sons noticed this immediately. They love the warmth and hospitality of the hotel staff. They take notice that staff would call us by name. We stayed here for 5 nights and 6 days. Every morning when going to the buffet breakfast area, a staff member would always greet us and ask how we are doing, how we like our food, where we are going for the day, etc. Of course, this is what the hospitality business is all about. It also makes a lot of difference when you have a high-level hotel membership such as in the case of my husband.

Le Meridien Hotel – Jimbaran Area

Hands down, this is our favorite! Hubby got us a penthouse at Le Meridien so we got our own private pool. You can check the penthouse tour in the video below:

Le Meridian Hotel

Le Meridien has four penthouses with their own pool. The penthouse is only one bedroom with a king-sized bed. One of our sons slept on the sofa while the three of us slept on the bed. We spent most of our time on the second floor of the penthouse. This is the vacation when I spent the most time in the waster.

This is so close to the beach, separated only by the restaurants along the shoreline. Noticeably, there are lesser people here so the shoreline is not as crowded as Seminyak. The waves are bigger so if you are the type who loves listening to the sounds of the waves, you will love walking along the shoreline of Jimbaran.

Holiday Inn Resorts Benoa – Benoa, Nusa Dua Area

We intentionally chose this side of Bali for the watersports activities. You see, the Benoa shoreline is the go-to place for watersports activities. Bali visitors from other areas would go here for this. We experienced this during our first vacation in Bali when we stayed at Seminyak. We had to rent a car to come here and back. There are public shower areas after you’re done but nothing beats when we stay right here. Also, this is the best area for sunrises. We made our sons go with us one morning when we woke up before dawn and waited to catch the sunrise.

The hotel is right beside the shoreline and we got rooms with a terrace overlooking the pool straight up the waters. You can see the room tour in this video:

The shoreline of the beachfront hotels here is separated by breakwaters. These look charming and picturesque in photos.

Holiday Inn Resorts Baruna – Kuta Area

If you want to experience Bali and its tourist vibes but want to go back and settle in your quiet paradise at the end of the day, Holiday Inn Resorts Baruna Bali is it! It seems isolated from the beachside happenings of Bali because its beachfront isn’t frequented by tourists. Probably because the location of the beach isn’t that accessible unless you stay in the hotel. But that’s why it is nice to stay there and wake up to the tropic views.

If you want to go where the action is, Legian and Kuta Beach are very near. You won’t miss the Bali vibes.

Holiday Inn Resorts Baruna

Hotels are not your only option when you vacation in Bali. It has a lot of other types of accommodation, depending on your budget. There are villas, airbnb, and budget hotels. Whatever works for you.
