I chose to have Dinner at LAVO for our family as a compromise to what my sons each want. My panganay wanted to hang out at the pool of the Marina Bay Sands. On the other hand, my bunso wanted to check out the Gardens by the Bay.
We cannot hang out by the pool because the rooftop pool is exclusive to guests who checked in at the Marina Bay Sands. Since the boys ruled out going to Universal Studios, I thought spending a little bit more for dinner isn’t bad. We have saved some from not going to Universal Studios, anyway. And without a doubt, the view from LAVO is magnificent.
My bunso decided he had enough of the good view of the Gardens by the Bay from LAVO. He decided we didn’t need to go in there after seeing the gradual transition of the lighted trees from dusk to night.
Aside from the Gardens by the Bay, we also have the best vantage view of the other iconic landmarks. The Lotus, Singapore Flyer, and the Bay are just so beautiful and scenic. The sunset was a big bonus. I reserved dinner at 5:00 pm so we can enjoy the sunset.
But the food at LAVO was not as we expected. My friend told me LAVO is their “cheers” place. And what exactly does that mean? They go up to the bar after dinner, have some drinks, and do their “cheers” pose up there with the magnificent view as their backdrop.
I thought that was a brilliant idea. Maybe this could serve as a tip to you. You don’t need to spend so much on food so don’t make a dinner reservation. Just enjoy dinner somewhere and go up to LAVO to enjoy your after-dinner drinks… and relish the cityscape of Singapore.
