I wrote about the Terminal 1 of the Incheon International Airport early this year and what you can do and see there. Terminal 1 offers a mix of cultural and leisure entertainment. But I wrote that with the excitement of eventually using the then newly-opened Terminal 2. I eventually did… just last month when I flew out with my sons for our summer vacation.
Though unmistakably very contemporary, the airport attempts to a Koreanesque feature and it manifests centrally as soon as one enters the airport. Up in the wide expanse of the airport ceiling is a colorful chandelier of Hangeul characters. You can’t miss it!
While I didn’t get to see AIRSTAR, the Airport Guide Robot, my sons were able to enjoy the few minutes we had before boarding time.
Korean Air’s Prestige Class, Million Miler, Morning Calm Premium and Skyteam Elite Plus members have their exclusive lane at Lane A so we immediately were able to finish check-in and had the chance to go around before getting in security.
After checking in, we wanted to check all the restaurants so we can compare them with Terminal 1. But, alas! Shake Shack was an easy choice and we didn’t bother to even check out the other restaurants.
Security and Immigration was fast but even then, we only had around 30 minutes left before boarding. My husband would have settled for the KAL Lounge, but the boys and I are less frequent travellers than he is so we opted to go around and check what this new airport has to offer.
Just like in Terminal 1, the airport has a smaller Korean Traditional Culture Experience Center where you can see snippets of Korean art. But right in the middle, on a platform, is an eye-catching piano inviting anyone to play it. But my boys were drawn to the more entertaining rooms visible from the platform. The Kids Zone and the IT Experience Zone are side by side. No need to guess which zone the boys got into!
We got into the Space Dome but didn’t finish the whole video since we were conscious of the time. My eldest son was able to do VR Flying, unfortunately for the second one, his height didn’t make it. He settled watching his brother, instead.
The time we had wasn’t enough to fully go around and enjoy the airport’s features but here’s a clip of what we settled for given the time we had:
(edit: watch video on Facebook)
We’ll definitely have more time to explore next time. But until then, this post serves as a window to what is inside Terminal 2. It just opened last January 18, 2018 and only the Korean Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines are using it plus a few other airlines updated here.

I also visited Terminal 2 last month and was totally in awe of the 1000 Korean characters hanging art light sculpture on the ceiling. They are all LED powered and change colors interchangeably. The terminal itself is so empty, clean and spacious and definitely feels like Terminal 1 from 5-6 years ago!
I got new info from you… I didn’t know there are 1000 Korean characters up there. Thanks!
Kudos on making time to blog about the terminal 2! I wanted to blog about the airport before I left Korea but I was overwhelmed with my emotions that time. Hahaha! I wonder when will the Philippines develop the airports!
Thanks… and here’s about Terminal 1: http://wendyflor.com/index.php/2018/01/21/incheon-international-airport-an-entertainment-center/
