The King Eternal Monarch is Lee Min Ho’s comeback television series after his required military enlistment. He is tall, handsome and extremely popular. The series is clearly made for him and his almost regal status in the Korean entertainment industry.
Although there is a mix review with regards to the quality and story line of the series, cinematography isn’t one of them. It is a visually appealing series and I am there for exactly this reason. So far, it is a visual delight with a very good looking actor.
The poster is relatable to many. The Gwanghwamun Square is one of the most photographed places in Seoul so locals and foreigners have photos taken there. We can all see our social media filled with these photos from every angle, and of course, I am one of them.
Filming Locations
I have made a Facebook album for these filming locations and I update it as each episode unfolds. Check this album and subscribe to my Facebook page for regular updates.
Gwanghwamun Square is the most visible location in the series. But Haeundae in Busan gets the top honor for showing how breathtaking it is. Most scenes from Haeundae feature the skyscrapers and they look majestic at night. Maybe, the shots from the top have been deliberately made to give this mood.
The 6 episodes are mainly filmed in Seoul and Busan. I thought I can make a weekly video of its filming spots but it will be redundant for featuring the same places. So, these are the videos that I have, so far.
The same locations were featured in Episodes 5-10. Diamond Bridge, Hauendae Beach and Jagalchi Market are in the episodes so I don’t need to put them again, lest I will be redundant. But Digital Media City became part of the filming locations in Episode 9! So, here goes Episodes 5-10 and this includes the product placements in the drama.
Luckily you have a photo in Busan, I haven’t been there. Yung as Gwanghwamun lang meron ako.
we have lots of photos in Busan. lalo na when we were there as part of the Honorary Reporters program:-).
you really are so lucky. I’m watching this series and always looking forward sa mangyayari to the characters and the parallel world. magiging as one kaya???
This is nice to know! Taking these down so we could visit them as soon as we can get to Busan, too! Will be tuning in for the other filming locations of the series 😊❤️
I haven’t seen this series, pigil-na-pigil pa ako. Lovely to know that the film locations are accessible!
I am amazed with the aesthetics of this drama. Although some say that the story is very confusing, I do not mind. My eyes are happy hahha thanks for the virtual tour, Ms Wendy. Hope to visit these places soon.
I also watch for the aesthetics:-) it’s beautiful, the places and the people.
OMG, you’re so lucky. Im just seeing these locations on Netflix tho. Planning to go to SoKor when everything’s fine. Take care to all of your adventures there!!!
Haven’t been in SoKor but the location are familiar in other dramas as well. But I am not really glued on this series by Minho. I like City Hunter more.
Di ko pa nauumpisahan ang series na ito. Ayoko kasi manuod ng on-going. Madadagdagan na naman ang list ko ng mga filming location na pupuntahan ko kapag natuloy na kami mag tragvel sa SoKOr.
[…] among all the LED face masks. Proof to that is its high-end product placement in the K-drama The King Eternal Monarch and endorsed by the king himself, Lee Min […]
I missed Lee Min Ho did. Has that much time passed already? I didn’t even notice. Hahaha. Kdrama have the nicest visuals din talaga. Hope to visit those places soon. Haha
OMG SO LUCKY! The King is one of mg favorite dramas at the moment and I can’t wait to visit Korea soon! My friends and I are already saving up to go there someday and I can’t wait to visit all the filming locations of my favorite Kdramas—The King, included. Thank you!
palagi ko talaga nilulook forward yung mga film location posts mo! aabangan ko ito pag napanood ko na this series, still watching Reply 1988 kasi haha!
Whenever I hear the place called Busan it reminds me of the movie called the Train to Busan. Koreans are really talented and artistic that’s why their tele seryes and movies click to the Filipinos.
hahaha, I can’t blame you. it was very popular when it came out.
Hunting -in ko talaga to when I go to Korea. Haha! I love watching The King!! I don’t know bakit may mga may ayaw sa series. Ganda kaya ng story!

kanya-kanyang panlasa, kaya pumasa sa panlasa ni AiAi:-)
I haven’t watched the series yet because I’m torn if it’s worth it since there are lots of feedback that story and effects wise, it’s not as great as The Kingdom. But what I really love about Korean series is they feature the places in the country so well. And checking out this filming locations, I’m sure it will meet my expectation to see amazing views again.
I am so obsessed with TKEM. If there were no travel restrictions, I’d probably be booking a trip to Korea to tour these sites. 🙂
Ganda daw nitong series nato ❤ pero grabeee kaya i really want to go to korea. I want to visit these places. Parang andun kanadin sa the king bongga!
I’m currently watching this series as of this writing! OMG And I’m on Ep3 at ang pogi pa rin ni Lee Min Ho as eveeer! I have honestly bookmarked a lot of film locations from series na napanood ko na mula sa mga nababasa ko sa mga blogs para when all this is over and if we’d get to travel again, I have a long list of places to visit in South Korea. Yay! ♡
My sister watches The King Eternal Monarch and she has a HUGE crush on Lee Min Ho. She wanted to check out these spots and last time she was urging me to do a research and to book a flight – I couldn’t relate much but eh… Pagbigyan ang ate… SoKor 2021!
Heard of this yet never really saw this one yet. Amazing taping locations too na not just a taping location but beautiful sceneries and perfect photo op!
